EAGLE PASS BORDER PATROL SPOUSES
BY- LAWS
NAME:
The name of this organization shall be the Eagle Pass Border Patrol Spouses
PURPOSE & OBJECTIVES:
To unite the members in the bonds of friendship, good fellowship, and mutual understanding
To take an active interest in civic, cultural, social, and moral welfare of the community
To assist and provide information of public and personal interest to the organization members and to help newcomers and their families
To have a community project at least once a year that will assist a person, family, or nonprofit organization
MEMBERSHIP:
U.S. Border Patrol employees and their spouses are eligible to be members of the organization. Retired employees and their spouses are also welcome to be members. Members have the right to vote on all matters requiring a vote and to hold any office in the organization. Members have the responsibility to pay annual dues promptly and to help with at least one organizational event each year.
DUES:
Annual dues will be $30.00. Dues will be valid for one year from time of payment. Members may pay dues twice a year at $15.00 for six months if necessary. Members will be notified prior to dues expiring in order to pay before membership lapses. Dues are not refundable.
ELECTION OF OFFICERS:
Nominations for officers will be submitted prior to the January meeting. All nominees for office must be an active member of the organization. Nominees must first acknowledge and accept a nomination before being added to a ballot. Elections will be held at the January meeting using secret ballots. The ballots will be counted by the officers and new officers will be welcomed and their duties will begin immediately following the meeting. The Eagle Pass Border Spouses Organization will be governed by a four (4) member Executive Committee. (Officers) that consist of:
PRESIDENT: Responsible for overall leadership and coordination of the
organization. Presided at all meetings and calls any special meetings of
the Executive Committee or Organization. Leads the officers in planning
and coordinating activities of the Organization. Provides liaison with
Border Patrol and Welfare and Recreation leadership Assures that new
Officers are elected annually Assures that all members have the
opportunity to express their opinions and that all decisions, which affect
club activities and membership, are decided by appropriate quorums of
the members.
VICE PRESIDENT: Takes over the responsibilities of the President at
any time when the President is unavailable or unable to do so. Accepts
leadership for event planning
SECRETARY: Maintains all organization records, including
meeting and event minutes.
TREASURER: Receives all organization monies, deposits in bank
account, disperse monies as directed by the organization membership and
maintains all financial records. Reports the financial status of the
organization to the officers and members whenever requested
VACANCIES:
If an officer (other than the President) leaves office for any reason the President will call for an election and special meeting if need be. All members will be notified of the election and given at least one (1) week notice to submit nominations. The election will then be held at the next meeting. If the President leaves office, the Vice – President may become President, if it is so desired, and an election will be held to select a new Vice-President. If the Vice-President declines the position of President, an election will be held for a new President, with organization members submitting nominees.
BY-LAW REVISION:
Any member may ask for a revision of the by-laws. All members will be sent a copy of the proposed revision and will be given at least two (2) weeks to respond. The decision to accept the revision will be made by a 2/3 majority of the members.
These by-laws have been approved by consensus of the members on this ___________ day of 2008.
